Marching on to Greatness

I don't have the time for a full recap this year. However, I wanted to give a public shout out to our winners. And I refuse to post a picture from a Michigan championship. :)

On a personal note, I truly appreciate everyone's patience this spring. I have been far busier than normal for a variety of reasons beyond the normal youth baseball and work requirements. The good news is... I have started my own law firm and will be far more flexible next year. My time on a little league board is coming to an end as well, which takes up more time than you might think. (Adults really need to stop acting like children.)  So I look forward to having a more time for this next year!

Our champion is... biake. biake is a returning champion who last won this dang ol' thing in 2021. He joined Clemons, Peterson, and Crose as two-time winners. An illustrious group!

biake totaled 674 points, which is 74% of total possible points. He hit 8 of the top point scorers and won despite not having a player in the championship game. In fact, only 5 entries had anyone in that final game. I thought I had broken my spreadsheet.

In second was Patrick Jones with 658 points. That's a great run considering he only had Yaxel Lendeborg going into the Final Four weekend. Lendeborg was the tournament's points champion runner up with 108 points. Patrick Jones hit 7 top scorers in the tournament.

We had a tie for 3rd between bostabrg and B Frosts picks. They both ended with 636 points, narrowly beating IU is a FOOTBALL school now, who had 632. Surprisingly, they both did not have the same entires. bostabrg hit 8 top scorers but was let down by Iowa State's Momcilovic. B Frosts picks hit 5 top scorers, but was 1 of only 2 entires to hit the tournament's point champion in UConn's Tarris Reed Jr.'s 117 points.

The 70-20-10 split leave biake with $518, Patrick Jones iwth $148, and boastabrg and B Frosts picks splitting $74. Scarecrow Boat and Patrick Jones also get their entries fees back! That money should be hitting everyone's accounts on 4/12.

For the players, I am proclaiming Bennett Stirtz as the MVP. His 73 points more than doubled the second highest 9 seed. 19 entries had Stirtz. Second would be Uconn's Reed who nearly doubled Purdue's Braden Smith. Third is Tennessee's Ja'Kobi Gillespie, who had also more than doubled the nearest competitor and had 12 entries select him. Honorable mention to High Points' Rob Martin and his 53 points. Only Abaz selected him.
